What is micro-needling and how does it work?

Micro-Needling, also known as Collagen Induction Therapy, is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure that involves the use of fine needles to create controlled micro-injuries to the skin’s surface. These micro-injuries stimulate the body’s natural healing process, leading to increased collagen and elastin production. As a result, the skin becomes firmer, smoother, and more even in texture.

During the Micro Needling treatment, our skilled professionals use a specialized device to create precise micro-channels in your skin. These micro-channels allow for better absorption of serums and targeted treatments, promoting cell turnover and the production of fresh, new skin cells. As a result, your skin becomes smoother, firmer, and more even-toned over time.

Treatment Process

Our Micro Needling treatment is designed to provide you with a comfortable and relaxing experience:

1. Numbing Cream Application: To ensure your comfort throughout the treatment, we apply a numbing cream to the treatment area.

2. Skin Cleansing: We cleanse your skin thoroughly to create a clean canvas for the treatment.

3. Micro-Needling: Our skilled professionals perform the Micro-Needling procedure, ensuring precision, safety and comfort.

4. Soothing Mask Application: Following the Micro-Needling session, a soothing and nourishing mask is applied to calm your skin and promote healing.

5. Moisturiser and SPF: To help the healing process specific moisturizer will be applied to allow your skin to heal and keep hydrating, followed by an SPF 50 sunscreen that is safe and won’t clog the skin.

5. Take-Home Mask: As part of your aftercare, we provide you with a specially formulated mask to use at home and any samples of moisturizer, cleansers and SPF to enhance the results of your treatment and help the skin heal.

Frequently Asked Questions

While Micro-Needling is a safe and effective treatment for most individuals, there are some contraindications to consider, including:

– Active skin infections or open wounds

– History of keloid scarring

– History of certain skin conditions, such as eczema or psoriasis on the face or neck

– Recent use of certain medications, like isotretinoin or roaccutane

– Pregnancy or breastfeeding

– Uncontrolled diabetes

– Bleeding disorders

Just yourself, coming bare faced means one less step but we’re ore than happy to remove your make up during our cleansing step.

Your skin will be flushed similar to a sunburn. Just like a sunburn it will feel hot, dry and possibly itchy. These symptoms will last a couple of hours and will more often than not be completely gone by the next morning.

  • Avoid touching your face as this can introduce bacteria and lead to infection
  • Do not work out or do strenuous physical activity for 24 hours following your treatment.
  • We recommend not drinking (alcohol) heavily on the day of your treatment. One drink or glass of wine is OK.
  • Avoid hot showers, baths, saunas or excessive sweating for 24 hours – 48hours after treatment

  • It is important to apply sunscreen with an SPF 30 or higher every day, even when it’s cloudy outside. Reapply sunscreen often, especially after swimming or sweating to protect the skin barrier from sun exposure while it heals.
  • To support the healing process, it is important to avoid makeup for at least 24 hours following the skin needling procedure. If you must wear makeup, make sure to use non-comedogenic and oil-free products.
  • A gentle cleanser should be used for 24 hours following the treatment to avoid irritation. A fragrance-free, alcohol-free, and non-comedogenic cleanser is best.
  • It is important to keep the skin hydrated following a skin needling procedure. A light, oil-free moisturizer should be applied, as needed, to avoid dryness and irritation and to encourage skin rejuvenation.

The frequency of skin needling treatments will depend on your individual goals and needs a minimum of 3 treatments is recommended to start seeing lasting results. Typically, treatments are spaced 4-6 weeks apart to allow the skin to heal fully in between treatments.

Results from skin needling treatments can be seen as early as a few days with most results peaking at 1-2 weeks after, with optimal results typically seen 4-6 weeks post-treatment.

Some people may experience breakouts after a skin needling treatment. This is typically due to the release of debris and toxins from the deep layers of the skin. Breakouts usually resolve within 1-2 weeks
